Small pets (under 10 kg) are allowed on AVE, Avlo, Long Distance, Avant and Medium Distance trains if they travel in a carrier (max. 60×35×35 cm). Only one pet per passenger is allowed.

Pet tickets usually cost €10 or 25% of the standard fare (on Medium Distance and Avant trains).
Free with a Prémium ticket (not valid on international AVE trains).
With a Bono AVE, a pet supplement is available at 25% of the Estándar seat fare.

On certain AVE routes, dogs up to 40 kg can travel outside of a carrier for €35, under specific conditions (leash, muzzle, pre-designated seats, signed declaration, arrive 40 min in advance).

On Cercanías (commuter trains), pets are allowed free of charge without a carrier or ticket, regardless of weight (must be leashed and muzzled).
